Staff reviews enable members of staff to develop their careers by discussing and setting targets and objectives, within the context of the aims of their School or department and the University.

Academic Qualifications
The Academic Practice & Organisational Development (APOD) department runs accredited programmes in learning and teaching development which lead to University qualifications.
Heads of school prize
The principal purpose of the prize is to recognise and publicly thank individuals or teams who, in the view of the Schools, have contributed the most to the positive learning experience of students in the current academic year.
Birmingham teaching fellowship
The University of Birmingham Teaching Fellowships encourage excellence and commitment in university teaching. Up to two individuals every year are awarded £10,000 each for personal, professional and academic development in teaching and learning.
National Teaching Fellowship (NTF)
The NTF offers a number of awards for personal development in learning and teaching.
Grants and funding
There are many places to find funding for research into the scholarship and development of learning and teaching, both within Birmingham and outside.
Conferences
There are a number of opportunities to develop your learning and teaching ability by attending conferences and meetings.
